Telephony connects FormantAI agents to the phone network. Your workspace may use managed phone numbers or connected providers depending on region, volume, compliance requirements, and existing telecom relationships.

Supported provider patterns

Managed outbound

Use a configured phone number on the agent to place outbound calls through the API or batch campaigns.

Inbound routing

Route incoming calls from assigned numbers to the correct agent.

Provider integrations

Workspaces can be configured with providers such as Twilio, Exotel, Tata Tele, or LiveKit SIP depending on deployment needs.

Recording callbacks

Recordings become available when supported by the provider and call configuration.

Production considerations

  • Confirm caller ID, number ownership, and regional calling rules before launch.
  • Test both answered and unanswered calls for each provider route.
  • Monitor provider-specific failures separately from agent or prompt issues.
  • Make sure recording disclosure and retention practices match your policies.
  • Keep inbound and outbound agents separate when they have different prompts, compliance rules, or webhook destinations.
